Pregnancy/Post-partum

A woman’s body goes through significant changes from pregnancy through childbirth in a very short amount of time. The growing fetus puts an extraordinary demand on the abdominal and pelvic organs, muscles, and ligaments, affecting their optimal functioning. The connective tissue becomes lax under the influence of the hormonal changes to prepare for childbirth, rendering the muscles and joints weak and less stable. Every woman’s experience of pregnancy is unique and we are here to support you through this journey.

Our program helps to-be-moms become stronger to endure childbirth and recover quickly to care for their newborn. Our Pregnancy and Post-partum program include learning effective pushing techniques and positioning that will help in reducing the effort and trauma associated with childbirth. We also address acute musculoskeletal pain which often develops during pregnancy from changes in weight distribution and an altered center of gravity.  This increased load on the body also continues after birth as caring and feeding can be a challenge to the lumbar spine for new mothers.

We offer evaluations as early as six weeks postpartum as recommended by The American College of Obstetrician and Gynecologists (ACOG) to expedite the recovery of strength and endurance.
