Dr. Puneet Dhaliwal achieved the highest honors from the Bachelor of Physical Therapy Program at Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) in Chandigarh, India. She continued her education by obtaining a Master of Arts in “Motor Control and Learning” from Columbia University, and completed her advanced Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Utica College. Dr. Dhaliwal is a board certified Neurological Specialist (NCS) and has advanced clinical experience in vestibular diagnostics and rehabilitation. She is a certified Exercise Expert for Aging Adults (CEEAA) and a certified stroke rehabilitation specialist (CSRS). Dr. Dhaliwal is on faculty at SUNY Downstate and her teaching responsibilities include Neuromuscular Management, Motor Learning and Control, and Prevention and Wellness.
Dr. Dhaliwal has over 10 years of specialized clinical experience treating patients with a variety of neurological, vestibular, cardiopulmonary, and orthopedic conditions in acute, inpatient rehab, and outpatient settings. She is currently a Vestibular Special Interest Group podcast committee member with the Academy of Neurology of the APTA, and also as a Geri EDGE committee member with the Academy of Geriatrics of the APTA.
Dr. Dhaliwal has developed and presented research including “Dual task attention and interlimb coordination in Parkinson’s disease” which was presented as a poster at American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) Combined Sections Meeting (CSM), in 2012. Her case study “Side-lying Test: A better tool for diagnosing BPPV compared with Dix Hall pike maneuver in patients with Vestibular rehabilitation” was selected for poster presentation at First International Vestibular Conference, 2018 and also at Association of Academic Physiatrists, World Congress, March, 2020.
